I started with one light and a window I decided not to fight.

Most of what I know came from not having enough — of time, of fixtures, of crew. It taught me to take away before I add, and that if a problem needs more to solve it, usually the approach is wrong.

There's a formula for a good image. I'm still working out how you make an inspired one.

Build the blueprint. Then burn it.

Preparation isn't rigidity. It's what buys room to be instinctive when the location changes, the schedule compresses, or the light does something better than what I planned.
